How does it work?

Being a CSA member is easy. Here’s how it works:

You can join any time of year, since we are a year round CSA.

Create an account here. Sign up to pay as you go or prepay for 4 or 13 (1 Quarter) boxes. Once you’ve chosen your subscription, you can pick weekly, or every other week (bi-weekly) frequency. At this time, we have one pickup location at the Farmstand.

What's in a Farm Box?

We have two different size CSA boxes.

Small (2-3 people)

Large (3 or more)

Each box has standard items depending on what is available from our farming partners for the time of year. However, you can customize your box to your taste. If you don’t like beets, trade them out for something you do like. So the question “What is in a box?” is really up to you. To learn more about customization, check out our “How do you customize?” section on this page. 

How do I pay?

4 Box or 1 Quarter (13 boxes) BOX SUBSCRIPTION

– If you sign up for 4 or 13 boxes you are charged for all 4 or 13 up front.

PAY PER BOX:

– If you elect to pay per box, your credit card is automatically charged each time you are scheduled to get a box. If you would like to pay by cash, please bring your cash to the Farmstand, and we will credit your account. If you would like to pay by check please make check payable to:

When are the order deadlines?

 You can make changes to your box by Monday at 12 noon for pickup on Wednesday or by Tuesday at 12 noon for pickup on Thursday. At those times, your credit card will be processed for the coming week..

Where do I pick up my Farm Box?

Pick up your box at 631 Cypress Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103, every WEDNESDAY or THURSDAY from 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM. We cannot hold your box after the pickup time or offer any refunds on boxes that are not picked up at the scheduled time.  How do I put a hold on my box?

Log in to your account and you will see a grey “Hold” button. Click the button before Monday at 12 noon (Wednesday pickup) or Tuesday at 12 noon (Thursday pickup) the week of your delivery. If you wish to put your box on hold for multiple weeks, select the date range. 

How do I customize my Farm Box?

Customization emails are sent out on Fridays, usually by 3pm, sometimes a little later.

The Friday before your box’s scheduled delivery you’ll receive a notification email letting you know it’s time to customize your box. Next, log in to your account and click  “box schedule and contents.” Click  the day you are to receive your box on the calendar. Then click the up or down icon to add or remove items from your box.  You can see a full explanation here

How do I cancel my account?

All you need to do is e-mail us at info@urbanhomestead.org with a request to cancel your subscription. You need to cancel at least 1 week prior to your next delivery, since we are a farm and typically plan one week ahead. (We cannot provide refunds for pre-paid boxes or cash accounts.)
